Hilton Head Nannies

The Lowcountry's Gold Standard

 for Childcare since 2007.

What is the process to apply?

The administrative team at Hilton Head Nannies takes our responsibility to safeguard children and families very seriously. We put our applicants through a very thorough vetting process. While it does take some time to go through that process, the results are financially and personally rewarding for those who join our team. The process is straightforward and easy to follow. To assist you with expectations, we are detailing the process below:

Step One:
Submit Your Application

Please review the types of applications we have available and choose the appropriate one based on your experience and what type of position you are looking for.

It is very important that you answer all questions thoughtfully and completely. Applications that are not thorough, and detailed will be rejected. Applications are often shared with prospective families, so please pay careful attention to grammar and spelling.

You only need to complete the application once. We will reach out to you after we are in receipt of it to discuss any positions that may be a good fit for you.

Step Two:
Send a Copy of Your Photo ID

You will receive an email asking for a copy of the front and back of your government issued photo identification.

Step Three:
Complete a Basic Nanny Skills Assessment

Once we receive a copy of your Photo ID, we will send you a written nanny skills assessment that you will take online. This assessment is timed, so you will need to find a quiet place with good internet signal to complete it. This assessment will help us evaluate your knowledge in basic child care, safety, and communication skills.

Step Four:
Provide 9 References

After we receive the results of your Nanny Skills Assessment, we will send you the link to submit the contact information for your references. For each reference, we will need his/her full name (first & last), email address and phone number. It is vital that you make sure you have the correct email address for each reference and that you input them correctly into the portal. Incorrect addresses and typos can cause long delays in processing your application.

You will need:
3 Childcare References
3 Professional/Employment References
3 Personal References

We are very strict about requiring nine total references. If you are short in employment references, we will accept additional personal references.

Step Five:
References are Checked

Hilton Head Nannies first sends an email to each reference requesting the individual to complete an online reference form. The internet provider address and location are saved from each form submitted and cross referenced.

Should we decide to move forward after your interviews, one of recruiting coordinators will call each and every reference you provided to verify their legitimacy.

Step Six:
Interviews

Once all 9 of your references have responded to our request, you will receive an invitation to interview with one of our recruiting coordinators.

After the recruiting coordinator has interviewed you, you will have a second interview which will be with the President, Jennie Krogulski. Jennie will spend some time getting to know you.

Due to Covid-19, all interviews take place via Zoom, with no exceptions. Interview invitations will be sent to you via email with a link for you to schedule the interview by picking a date and time that works for you. The interview confirmation will include the Zoom meeting details.

Step Seven:
Background Check & Agency Registration Forms

After your interviews, we will ask you to complete agency registration paperwork via DocuSign. Once we receive this paperwork, we will send your background check off to the professional background check agency that we use in. Because this is an in-depth background check, it can take 4 days to 2 weeks to be returned to us, depending on where you have lived. The pandemic has slowed down the return of results from states in which government agencies are closed.

Step Eight:
CPR/First Aid Certification

While we are waiting on your background check to return, this is a great time to update or obtain your CPR/First Aid training. Your certification must be in infant/child/adult CPR and, at a minimum, basic first aid.

You will receive an email from our recruiting department with details on what certifications we accept. Once you have obtained your certifications, please provide a copy to the office for your file.

Step Nine:

Once your background check has returned, you will be notified of the results. If the results are clear, you will receive an email with an invitation to complete orientation. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what we do and our team. You will enjoy ongoing support -- you are welcome to reach out anytime for assistance, feedback and help. We want you to flourish in your role and we will do all we can to cheer you on toward success!

Step Ten:
Introduction to Our Team & Download Team App

After your orientation, you will receive an invitation to download our team App (available for download on both Apple and Google Play". Once you download the App, you will be introduced to the Team with a warm welcome!
