Hilton Head Nannies' Training Program
Although training and experience may vary, all nannies share a love for children. We, at Hilton Head Nannies, believe that there is a broad difference between being a "professional nanny" and a "babysitter". We strongly support the need for specialized training for nannies who provide in-home care for children. Further, we understand the requirements of discerning families who seek childcare services. Therefore, effective March 2010, all nannies who work with Hilton Head Nannies will be required to begin training through Hilton Head Nannies' Training Program.
The coursework is divided into 15 segments and is designed with selected reading, research projects, monthly exams, in-home practicum, and specialized hands-on training. The training takes 12 months to complete, with the first group of nannies expected to complete training in April 2011.

Why is it important for nannies to be trained?
There are many, many reasons nannies should be trained. A trained nanny will know how to care for her charges cognitive, language, physical, social, nutritional, developmental, and emotional needs. She will be able to apply this knowledge through music, art, play, literature, science, and social experiences.
Other reasons nannies should be trained:
- Professionally trained nannies are more aware and pay particular attention to safety details.
- Professionally trained nannies are always prepared for the unexpected.
- Professionally trained nannies are truly committed to their profession.
- Professionally trained nannies have a true understanding of the complexities of the family unit.
