What is National Nanny Training Day?
This year Hilton Head Nannies will take part in the annual National Nanny Training Day (NNTD). NNTD was created as an event to bring together nanny-related businesses and organizations in cities across the U.S. to provide quality nanny training opportunities to local nannies. Training and education of caregivers is one of the most important factors associated with the quality of childcare they provide. With 32 events planned around the country, National Nanny Training Day is expected to reach around 1200 people in attendance.
NAEYC first established the Week of the Young Child in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years lay the foundation for children's success in school and later life. The Week of the Young Child is a time to plan how we - as citizens of a community, of a state, and of a nation - will better meet the needs of all young children and their families.
National Nanny Training Day ties in perfectly with The Week of the Young Child's purpose to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

They provide state-of-the-art child forensic interviews, crisis counseling, victim advocacy, evidence-based mental health treatment, family support, law enforcement partnerships and educational programs. Their mission is to provide comprehensive services that lead to healing for child victims of abuse and adult victims of rape, sexual assault and incest. We are asking each attendee to pick up one of the following items for Hope Haven and bring it with you to National Nanny Training Day:
-
bottled water
-
individually wrapped snack items (goldfish, cheez-its, fruit snacks, granola/cereal bars, peanut butter crackers, pretzels)
-
gas cards
-
Walmart/Staples gift cards
-
journals (appropriate for girls and boys)
-
printer paper
-

Crayola Washable Markers (10 pack)
This is a not-for-for profit event and Hilton Head Nannies has worked diligently to keep the cost down. The average cost for NNTD events nationally is $35 (we are well below that). If there are any funds left from this event, they will be donated to Hope Haven of the Lowcountry along with the items donated.
